As almost nothing is impossible for PET plastic, it is the go-to packaging material for supplement providers. These bottles and jars can accommodate a series of dry and water-based products, like powders, pills, lotions, drinks and gummies. Before you buy your PET containers in bulk, make sure to test if this type of plastic is a good choice for your product.
That’s right! Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a fully recyclable material. After serving its purpose, a bottle made from this type of plastic can be transformed into a different container or used as a component in clothing, homeware, and much more.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have deemed this type of plastic as good food packaging material. The best practice is to safeguard your PET containers from direct sunlight, heat and dampness.
PET plastic is completely impervious. This is not to say that every type of cap for your container will be waterproof. Caps without liners or with PS 22 (pressure-sensitive) liners are not the best option for liquids. If your product is water-based, opt for an EPE or induction liner instead.
This liner type is usually ideal for dry and solid products such as powders and pills. The PS 22 seal can effectively preserve the dryness of your product. It is not waterproof, though, since the liner requires a dry surface on the bottle to stick.
Commonly used to avoid leakage, the EPE is a cost-effective cap liner. It’s best for liquids and water-based supplements. The EPE does not create an air barrier, so if you’re looking for this kind of seal, consider the heat induction liner.
The induction seal cap is the most secure and tamper-evident closure option for your products. The liner is applied to the container with the use of an induction sealing machine, which makes it impossible to re-apply once meddled with. This airtight and hermetic seal perfectly protects the freshness of pharmaceuticals (pills, tablets, capsules), personal care products (creams, gels, lotions), food (both dry & liquid), and more. The liner comes plain or printed with a custom message, such as “sealed for your protection”.
The pharmacy cap (or, child-resistant cap, CRC) is a press-and-twist opening required for certain products, such as most over-the-counter drugs. It’s difficult for a child to open but easy to use by adults. This tight closure usually does not allow external contaminants inside.
