Hello from Bulgaria! A package with a twist by Lufu Kids

Brand

Brands like Lufu Kids are made and endorsed by people who care about the eco-education of our future generations. Saying that these initiatives are admirable would not do it justice because they create authentic, local heroes.

Lufu Kids is a Bulgarian toy and apparel company created by Krasina Teneva. We are thrilled to make an eco-aware packaging solution for a brand that actively promotes sustainability in its local community.

Tell us about your story. Why did you choose to create a brand for children?

Childhood is one of the most critical times, and everything we touch during these years has a significant impact on our lives.

The clothes we wear - from colours to prints and patterns, form the personality of little ones and therefore, taking more time to choose the fitting pants or toy, we help them build a unique world view.

Our mission is quite simple - to create the best selection of brands that are excellent in design and offer a sustainable and ethical alternative to mainstream fashion.

Most of the products in our online store are organic, vegan, eco-friendly, made from high-quality materials and are GOTS certified - this means that they are created with nature in mind and will leave the world a better place for our children.

We believe that if we make an extra effort to instil these values in our children today, it will only make their lives more exciting tomorrow.

Lufu Kids has a very green approach when it comes to trading. How does your target market receive your eco values?

Our customers appreciate our efforts to make the whole process of supplying them with their favourite products in a much more eco-friendly manner.

PRO TIP: Plant trees in the name of your customers with Packhelp!

Is the Bulgarian market ready to embrace a sustainable attitude towards products and packaging?

Yes, I think more people are now aware of how clothes are being produced.

I believe this is one of the reasons why both apparel brands and consumers are looking for responsibly sourced products.

What kind of packaging did you order from Packhelp? Would you please describe your customer experience with our website?

We chose the Expandable Kraft Mailer because it is made of FSC-C151608 certified paper and it’s biodegradable.

We like the fact that our packaging can be used more than once. Also, the reduced volume was a vital eco property since it means fewer carbon emissions.

Regarding the on-site experience: the Packhelp platform is easy to use; they provide excellent customer service, nice visualisations and images of the products, and valuable information regarding the sustainability of the products they offer.

How did you personalise your packaging?

For us, custom packaging is essential for the brand image and the customer experience. We like to keep it simple for design, and Packhelp’s products meet all of our needs.

On one side you can find our logo and website. Plain, simple and cost-effective.

However, we chose to go a bit further on the other side of our expandable kraft mailer. As you can see in the image below, we opted for a unique print of endangered animals. The patterns can be cut and coloured by the children.

How did you prepare for the end of the year?

We have decided to organise some sale offers because we would like to give more people the opportunity to buy ethically produced products at a lower rate.

However, I would like to emphasise that at Lufu Kids, we don’t encourage excessive consumption or buying things you don’t need.

What advice would you give to a business owner from your niche market that is now just starting?

Balance passion with wisdom, try to understand your customer needs and establish good connections with the brands you want to work with.

To sum up

  • Bulgaria was never more open as it is today to embrace carbon neutrality.
  • Training youngsters on being environmentally conscious is more accessible than we think.
  • Creating an environmentally friendly product will give you a competitive advantage in the Bulgarian market.
  • More and more customers are paying attention to eco properties when choosing a packaging product.
  • Packaging is seen as part of any brands statement, so we need to pay extra attention to what we are saying.

One of the most important lessons that we learnt from the discussion with Krasina is that any small steps such as a GOTS certification or rethinking your packaging strategy will make a difference for your brand positioning

Extending the life cycle of our packaging by creating an additional use stands out on any market and demonstrates creativity and an eco brand statement from the early days.

Our advice for every eco brand out there…

Never stop learning about eco properties and your customers. By employing a sustainable product, not only do you make the world a better place, but you will become a pioneer in your market.

Let’s lead by example!
